Delete Document

This page contains help and advice on the use of the Delete Document option in the editor interface.

The option to delete documents is only available for documents without child documents and for those documents which you have permission to edit.

In addition, the Delete Document option cannot be used to remove the base documents of any authorised editor. For example, if Jane is the editor for http://www.example.com/news/france/ and she is not allowed to edit elsewhere on the site, then she would not be permitted to delete http://www.example.com/news/france/.

There is no option to delete documents that have child documents. This is because the creation of orphans, and the corresponding invalid site structure, is not permitted. In order to delete a document with children it is necessary to first delete all the child documents.

When you delete a document you are presented with a list of other documents on the site in order that you can choose where to redirect all future requests for the deleted document.
